Like its counterparts in the Powerflex line, the Allen-Bradley Powerflex 70 Alternating Current (AC) drive unit is designed to accommodate space constraints while reliably meeting performance and power demands. This drive is packed with features and offers flexible mounting options, ensuring versatility for a wide range of industrial applications, either within or outside of the production environment. The Powerflex 70 demands an input voltage of 600V at 60 Hertz, while it offers an adjustable frequency pulse width modulation (PWM) output to provide optimal power and rotation control. The drive is rated for 20 Horsepower (HP) or 15 kilowatts (kW) on 3 phase electrical power, with a total output current rating of 22 Amperes. The unit offers flexible mounting options, including a NEMA/UL Type 1, IP20 Enclosure or flange mounting options for better thermal control. The Powerflex 70 offers high efficiency operation with an electrical efficiency of 97.5% at its nameplate ratings for current and line voltage. It is recommended that this drive is paired to a motor in a range from a minimum of 1:2 to a maximum of 2:1 (drive to motor power ratio). This flexibility makes the Powerflex suitable for a range of production environments and applications, even where your capacity demands are likely to change or scale over time. The output voltage is variable from zero up to the drive unit’s maximum rating of 600 Volts, allowing granular control of motor speed and acceleration. Meanwhile, with a power factor of 0.98 across its entire speed range, the Powerflex 70 offers excellent efficiency regardless of demand load.
