The Allen-Bradley 2711-T6C3L1 is a user-controlled electronic operator panel that can be used to control I/O devices from a remote location. The terminal operates on a DH-485 network which can be set up using a standard RS-232 communication port. An additional port is provided to configure the remote printers and scanners used in conjunction with the terminal. This RS-232 port operates on a different communication channel and allows the user to trigger the functions of I/O devices based on requirements and availability. The terminal is housed in an enclosure with adequate space for airflow and ease of maintenance. A memory card slot is also provided in the enclosure. The non-volatile flash memory of the terminal is 240 kilobytes and can be further accentuated by using an external memory card. The 2711-T6C3L1 terminal uses a touch screen as the primary input mechanism. The user and use the touch screen to enter a wide array of values in the form of alphanumeric characters, statistics, and ASCII characters. The touch screen is highly interactive and consists of a number of objects. Each interactive object occupies one or more of 128 touch screen cells. The user can initiate and drive functions of various components in the system directly from the touch screen. The touch screen is also configured to the DH-485 network and can be configured using the configuration mode menu. The configuration mode menu can also be used to create applications that can be activated and operated from the touch screen. A reset button is present to reset the terminal to its default configuration.
