The Allen-Bradley PanelView 2711P-T15C4D8 operator panel is a state-of-the-art color display panel that is equipped with a touch screen to create an efficient interface between the operator and the automation system. This panel can be used at its optimum productivity by using an input power source rated between 18 and 32 volts of direct current. The most commonly used rated voltage for the input source stands at 24 volts and the power consumption of the device at this voltage is 70 watts. The terminal package is equipped with a field-replaceable CR2032 coin-cell lithium battery and can be used to accentuate the primary power source.

The operator panel has a vibrant color touch screen with a high display resolution. The operating force on the touch screen can range from 10 grams to 110 grams, and the screen has an actuation rating of one million presses. With 1500 displays, operators can view the temperature of the display. 700 to 1500 terminals with a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) backlight require temperature control when the internal temperature of the product is below 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit), or above 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). If the internal temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius, the backlight is set to overdrive, or the full-rated current settings, for at least 5 minutes. This means that the display is at 40% or less of full brightness. This action is able to reduce heat generation from the backlight. Temperature monitoring begins when the backlight turns on at startup or when the screen saver is deactivated. Whenever a low or high temperature is detected, an error is sent to the system event log. If the temperature control is not functioning, a noncritical error is sent to the system event log, but the terminal still continues to operate normally. The backlight on this terminal has a 50,000-hour minimum life at 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit). For this terminal, it is recommended that a dedicated 24 VDC safety extra-low voltage (SELV) or protective extra-low voltage (PELV) power supply is used to power each PanelView device. The earth/ground connection on the 2711P-T15C4D8 is located on the rear of the display module.
