The Allen-Bradley 1746-NT8 analog input module is a sophisticated device that transmits information to a serial logic controller in the form of thermocouple or millivolt analog input data. The module ensures the readability of the transmitted data and serves as an input interface to service the serial logic controller. The inputs are filtered through the module using an in-built low pass digital filter that allows the user to program the notch frequencies and set a threshold to ensure that the input voltage is maintained within a specified range. An external power supply is not required to power the analog input module. The module can be powered by using the backplane current as an input power source. At an input voltage of 24 volts of direct current, the module consumes 70 milliamperes of current from the backplane.

The Allen-Bradley 1746-NT8 is an efficient device that can be mounted on any module slot of the enclosure, with the slot used to house the serial processor (slot 0) being an exception. The module must be mounted away from high voltage sources of power within the enclosure to mitigate the effects of electrical noise on the characteristics of the module. The module supports 8 input connections and a variety of thermocouple analog sensors. The device is compatible with the SLC 500 fixed system chassis as well as the SLC 500 modular system. The analog input module is equipped with a channel status LED that produces a green flash of light to indicate the successful operation of the module.
