The Allen-Bradley 1746-P2 is a modular power supply, developed primarily for SLC 500 programmable controllers. It has an input voltage ranging between 85 to 132 volts, or 170 to 265 volts depending on the connection frequency (47 to 63 hertz). The rated current capacity is measured at 5 amperes when connected to 5 volts, and 0.96 amperes at 24 volts DC. In addition, this power supply has a maximum user-supplied surge current protection of 15 amperes and a maximum surge current of 20 amperes. This power supply delivers a continuous current capacity of 200 milliamperes and a DC voltage ranging between 18 to 30 volts when connected to a 24 volts DC connection. This power supply has 5 terminals, jumper pins, and an internal fuse that accommodate both AC and DC power connections. Depending on the connection (50 hertz or 60 hertz), jumper pins are used to set the correct input voltage setting. The hold-up time of the power is supply is rated at 20 milliseconds under full-load, and 3000 milliseconds under no-load conditions. This feature allows the PLC processor to continue functioning even when the power supply input voltage falls below the nominal supply level. The fuse protection allows this device to be protected against short-circuits, and the device is capable of resuming operation for a certain period when the input voltage to the power supply is lower than the recommended operating voltage.
