The 1746-P7 is an SLC 500 support stand power supply. It has an input voltage range of 10 to 30 Volts DC, and the minimum input voltage is around 12 to 24 Volts DC. It also has current capacities of 2 Amps, 2.64 Amps, and 3.6 Amps at 5 Volts DC and 0.625 amperes, 0.46 amperes, and 0.87 amperes at 24 Volts DC. The maximum input power supply is around 50 Watts at 12 Volts DC and 75 Watts at 24 Volts DC. It also has an inrush current of 20 amperes, an input of 12 Volts DC, a CPU hold-up period of 895 milliseconds at zero Volts DC for no load, 10 milliseconds at 9 Volts DC for a full amount and 1.37 milliseconds at zero Volts DC for a total amount. The device is continuous at 9 Volts DC for no-load and 11 Volts DC for no load. At 24 Volts DC input, the CPU hold-up times are 790 milliseconds at 11 Volts DC for a full amount, 40 milliseconds at zero Volts DC for a full load, and 1860 milliseconds at 0 Volts DC for no weight.
The Allen-Bradley 1746-P7 power supply weighs 1.1 kilograms or 2.5 pounds and is 85 x 140 x 140 millimeters. For this power supply, up to two 14AWG wires can be connected. It has a working temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, a storage temperature of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and current capacity degraded by 5% when the heat is higher than 55 degrees Celsius. With a 1746-P7 power supply, a non-condensing relative humidity of 5 to 95% is required. The SLC controller will turn off when there is under-voltage and on when the voltage reaches 11 volts.

When their power supply is undervoltage, the SLC 500 devices will do various different things. The 1746-P7, as well as all the other SLC 500 devices, have what is called a hold-up mode. These devices operate in this special mode for a short while when the input voltage of the power supply dips below the voltage range recommended for its operation. However, during this time of hold-up, the device will still scan user programs and control the I/O. The hold-up time for the 1746-P7 varies quite a bit depending on its load and state. There are also instances where the device will turn itself off. In this state, the product will stop scanning and disable all of its outputs. This device will turn off if voltage used for input to the power supply gets removed or drops below the operation range recommendation for a period that exceeds the hold-up time. When restored to normal, the controller will automatically resume its operations. Only the 1746-P7 will turn off and not back on if the power supply falls into the range of four to nine (4 to 9) volts for a period exceeding the hold-up time. The 1746-P7 will not turn back on until the input voltage returns to at least eleven (11) volts direct current (DC). During its lifespan, the 1746-P7 may also experience an overcurrent condition. This device is only intended to be used in an industrial setting with an altitude of up to 6561 (six thousand five hundred and sixty-one) feet, or the equivalent of 2000 (two thousand) meters.
