The 1771-IXE is a PLC 5 Analog Input Module manufactured by Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation as part of the PLC 5 series. This is a Thermocouple/Millivolt Input Module used to transfer the input data words the memory to the data table of the PLC processor and also transfer back the configuration words through block transfer programming. Allen Bradley 1771-IXE module requires one slot for the installation in a 1771 input and output chassis and requires no external power supply. This module comes with cold junction compensation with a temperature range of 0 – 60 degrees Celsius and an accuracy of ±0.5 degrees Celsius. It also features a selectable temperature range of Celsius or Fahrenheit with a 1 degree Celsius or degree Fahrenheit temperature resolution and a 10 millivolt resolution. Allen-Bradley 1771-IXE Analog Input Module requires a backplane current load of 750 milliamps at 5 volts and 50 milliseconds per 8 channels channel update time. This module’s wiring is connected with the 1771-WI field wiring arm helping to eliminate the need to disconnect the wires while replacing the module. It also features maximum power dissipation of 4.25 watts with a maximum thermal dissipation of 14.5 BTU per hour. Allen Bradley 1771-IXE module comes with both high and low-temperature alarms, which can be selected by the operator. It has a green RUN and red FLT indicator on the front panel to show power and fault status. When powered-up, the module performs self-diagnostics and reports the status. It offers open-circuit detection if the thermocouple fails. The 1771-IXE Analog Input Module calibrates offset and gains automatically for every channel, thus eliminating the need for potentiometers.

The Allen Bradley 1771-IXE thermocouple/millivolt input module has a total of eight (8) inputs, in which they can all be the same type of input or 4 inputs each of 2 different types. This module is capable of being installed on an I/O chassis in any slot. This Allen Bradley module only takes up one (1) slot an an I/O chassis. The input isolation of this unit is one thousand (1,000) volts peak between the inputs, between the input and common, and between the input and backplane connections. This product has a common mode rejection rating of 120 decibels (dB) at a 60 hertz frequency and up to a peak voltage of 1,000 volts. Additionally, the common mode impedance of this module is greater than ten (10) megohms. The normal mode rejection rating of this Allen Bradley module is sixty (60) decibels (dB) at a frequency of sixty (60) hertz. The 1771-IXE thermocouple/millivolt input module has input overvoltage protection rated at 120 volts rms, continuous. The backplane power rating of this device is 850 milliamperes at 5 volts. The Allen Bradley 1771-IXE thermocouple/millivolt input module should be operated in an area where the temperature ranges from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, or the equivalent temperature range of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, if this module is not being operated or is being stored, the temperature of the surrounding area should range from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, or -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Furthermore, the relative humidity rating that is suitable for this device is 5% to 95% non-condensing.
