Part number 1771-NBTC is an intelligent block module that connect analog signals with the PLC-3 and 5 families of programmable controllers for block transfer of data. This device was designed and manufactured by Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation. This device was designed to withstand 1000 volts DC of continuous voltage between input and output channels, as well as between input and backplane connections. Its eight (8) channels are electrically isolated from each other. Its input and outputs are terminated via prefabricated cables which interface with remote termination panels. The analog modules of this device have modular conditioning blocks connected to a unique circuit board, as well as input open circuit detection, programmable ramped output, and can accommodate thermocouple and RTD input channels. While Channel 1 and 2 are rated at 0 to 25 milliampere output with 3.2 micro-amperes per bit resolution and an output impedance greater than 1 Megaohm, Channels 3 through to 8 are plus or minus 100 millivolts per TC input channels.

Furthermore, this input/output module communicates with processor using Block Transfer Write (BTW) and Block Transfer Read (BTR). This device has a field wiring size of 14 to 22 AWG and a 1.2-millimeter insulation rating. Additionally, it has an output overvoltage protection of 140 volts continuous AC rms, 25 milliseconds maximum update time, 500 microsecond digital-to-analog converter settling time to within 10 percent of full scale, and a maximum ramping value of 32 milliamperes per second, The operating temperature for this device should remain within a range of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The storage temperature for this device, however, should range from -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
