1785-L80B is an Allen-Bradley standard PLC processor with 100,000 words memory, and it includes four DH+ ports along with a universal remote I/O, adapter, and scanner. For the universal remote, the maximum number of I/O chassis is 32 for each link. It incorporates a total of 93 I/O chassis and one single port of RS-232C/422-A/423-A. The 1785-L80B processor takes a load of 3.3 amperes at 5 volts. Based on a series of PLC 5, this programmable controller is a pivotal point of every control system.

It can communicate with various local, extended, and I/O modules on different interfaces in one control system. This programmable controller comes with the default four ports marked as channel 1A, channel 1B, channel 2A, and channel 2B. The front panel of this programmable controller has a 25-pin connector which is marked as channel 0. This channel 0 can support a variety of protocols: half-duplex slave protocol, half-duplex master protocol, DF1 full-duplex protocol, and ASCII.

Scanning times per rack are as follows: 10 ms at 57.6 kilobytes per second, 7 ms at 115.2 kilobytes per second, and 3 ms at 230.4 kilobytes per second. Based on the transmission speed of the controller, the maximum required cable length for DH+ can be calculated. It is important to note that all devices can communicate on the DH+ link at the same rate. The maximum and minimum cable length is 3048 meters at a speed of 57.6 kilobytes per second and 760 meters at a speed of 230.4 kilobytes per second, respectively. Its application range from as large as the entire manufacturing process/production line to as small as a single equipment/product.
