Allen-Bradley manufactures the 1792D-4BV0D, an I/O DeviceNet block input module. It takes between 10 and 25 volts of DC to function the module. It has four inputs. Its 24V DC power inputs are already set up to work with either PNP (source) or NPN (sink) devices. A short circuit and open-wire identification are built-in as diagnostic equipment. Control of this device has been added to the Series B version of the device.

Designed for use with the DeviceNet block input module, the 1792D-4BV0D was manufactured and branded by Allen-Bradley. Diagnostic functions such as short circuit and open-wire detection are included. They are reported all the way down to a single location in space. In the Series B version of this device, local logic control is now built into the device itself. I/O modules in the 1792D ArmorBlock MaXum I/O range are self-contained 24 volt DC I/O modules that connect to each other over the DeviceNet network. The 1792D-4BV0D is part of this range. These modules do not need an enclosure because of their sealed IP 67 casing. While the I/O connections are sealed M12 (micro), the network and auxiliary power connectors are sealed M12 or Mini.
This product has been tested to ensure that it complies with Council Directive 89/336/EEC Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and the EN 50081-2 EMC and EN 50082-2 EMC standards. By applying the safety criteria of EN 61131-2 programmable controllers, this device has been tested to fulfill council directive 73/23/EEC low voltage. The initial stage in installing the module is to configure the node address and install the component to the cable foundation, followed by connecting the cord sets and lastly communicating with the module.
