The Allen-Bradley 1794-IE8XOE4 is a flex input / output (I/O) module that works on a analog signal interface. The main function of this module is to take the analog input and shift its location from the module memory to the data table of the processor at a specifically designated location. Then, the output from the same specific location of the processor data table to the module’s memory. This process is called block transfer and it can also transfer words to and from the module memory. The 1794-IE8XOE4 has some specifications which include eight (8) inputs and four (4) outputs. All these inputs and outputs are single ended meaning the analog signal is carried out through the input wire using varying voltage and the output wire is a ground or reference voltage. Additionally, the inputs and outputs are non-isolated, meaning the circuit is not separate from the power source. This flex module includes the user-configurable input current range of 4 to 20 milliamperes and 0 to 20 milliamperes. The accuracy drift of the current and voltage both is 0.004% at full scale for input and output at twenty-five (25) degrees Celsius. The external DC supply current is 140 milliamperes at 24 volts direct current (DC) and 280 milliamperes at 10 volts direct current (DC). The power dissipation can change depending on the voltage. The power dissipation ratings include 3.0 watts at 31.2 volts, 2.3 watt at 24 volts, and 2.0 watt at 10 volts. The power dissipation is calculated to be 10.3 BTU/hr at a DC voltage of 31.2 volts.
