The 1794-OE4XT is a device that belongs to the FLEX I/O system. This system is an I/O system that is small and modular, and it is used for distributed applications that provide the functionality of all rack-based inputs and outputs. The FLEX I/O system is divided into 3 main components: the adapter, terminal base, and I/O module. The 1794-OE4XT is a unit that belongs to the I/O module. The adapter and power supply provide the logic that forms the basis of the system for a maximum of eight (8) I/O modules, the terminal base is made up of a terminal strip that terminates wiring for two- or three-wire devices. And lastly, the I/O module is made of bus interface and circuitry which is needed to perform application-related specific functions as per user requirements.  

Part number 1794-OE4XT has a power supply voltage of 24 volts direct current (DC). The terminals have 4 analog outputs which are single-ended and are non-isolated. FLEX I/O modules consist of output, input, and combination modules which are block transfer modules that allow for the interfacing of analog signals to all kinds of Allen-Bradley programmable controllers that have block transfer capability. The Block transfer programming works by moving input fetched from the memory of the module to a designated area within the data table of the processor, and for the output data, it does the same in reverse i.e., it takes words from a designated area within the data table of the processor to the memory of the module. The programming also allows for the transfer of configuration words from the data table of the processor to the memory of the module.
