Part number 440R-EM4R2 is a Guardmaster safety relay expansion module that was manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This device belongs to the family of Bulletin 440R-Guardmaster safety relays. It is designed on the safety standards of EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 13849-1, EC 60204-1, and IEC 61508. As an expansion module, it expands on the main relay module to make the system, relay, and expansion easier to install and use. This device is equipped with a single rotary switch that is used to set the required function of the device. The rotary dial has selectable options which include reset, diagnostics, timing, and simple logic. The expansion module also has a single-wire safety connection that can simplify cascading and expanding safety functions via a single-wire connection to connect or link the relays.

The specifications for the power supply are twenty-four (24) volts direct current (DC) with an average power consumption of between two (2) to three-point-five (3.5) watts. The mechanical life of the expansion module is about 10,000,000 operations. The single wire safety connection serves as a safety input, whereas the safety output consists of four (4) Normally Open (N.O.) outputs. It also has a single immediate auxiliary output. The delay for the power ON time is five-point-five (5.5) seconds. The response time for safety outputs is thirty-five (35) milliseconds, whereas the response time for single wire safety options is twenty-five (25) milliseconds. The reset types for the module are configured manual, configured automatic, and monitored manually. The recovery time after a single operation is one hundred and fifty (150) milliseconds. The expansion module weighs 0.225 kilograms.
