The 592-A2EA is an Allen Bradley Bulletin 592 SMP-1 solid-state overload relay. The Bulletin 592 overload relay is directly replaceable by a eutectic alloy overload relay that is an integral component in the assembly of Bulletin 505, 509, and 520 NEMA starters. It can also be replaced as separate mounted panel overload relays. This is not only an overload relay, but also a smart motor protector (SMC-1). It has a quick trip response of 2 seconds on loaded motors because it offers a phase loss protection. The overload relay is self-powered, and the wires are the same as in eutectic alloy overload relays (thermal type devices). The overload relays are directly interchangeable as their mounting and reset locations are exactly the same as eutectic overloads. There are independent trip classes of 10, 20, and 30 for the Bulletin 592 series, however this relay belongs to the trip class 20. It has a manual reset option. There are no heaters in the relay. This device has an adjustment arrangement of 3:2:1 that produces heat equivalent to 10 heating elements. For the installation of the relay starter mount, a NEMA starter size of 0 or 1 is required. This device has a rated continuous current of 18 amperes maximum, as well as a maximum rated power of 3 horsepower (Hp) at 200 to 230 volts AC and 5 horsepower (Hp) at 480 to 575 volts AC. The full load current adjustment range is from 1.6 amperes minimum to a maximum of 5.0 amperes.
