Part number 1492-IFM40F is a wiring system device that was manufactured by Allen-Bradley. It is part of the 1492 wiring systems, which is used for connection of CompactLogix controllers, series 5370 L1 and L2. This unit is an interface module, in which it is a combined type for input and output that can connect to analog or digital I/O, high speed PLC modules with the assistance of cables that are pre-wired and pre-tested. It is equipped with 40 cable connection pins. It does not carry LED indicators for status visualization. It does not have fuse clips. Its wiring system is of feed through type and has standard terminals, each channel having one (1) terminal of a fixed type, not being able to be removed. The unit can be used for applications in a hazardous environment Class I division 2. The maximum current per circuit is 2 amperes, while the maximum current per module is 12 amperes.

By replacing the conventional point to point wiring with ready pre-wired plug and play connection ends, the connection time will be significantly reduced. It is estimated that installation time with this technology will be approximately seventy-five (75) percent lower when compared to traditional wiring of point-to-point type. The module is installed on a DIN rail and utilizes less space than traditional terminal blocks, in some cases up to fifty (50) percent. The operating temperature of the Allen-Bradley 1492-IFM40F ranges from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, or the equivalent range of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The dimensions of this device measure out to 4.33 inches x 3.27 inches x 2.78 inches, or 110 mm x 83 mm x 70.6 mm.
