The 8520-ENC3 is a 3 axis digital servo module that was designed and manufactured by Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation. This module is part of the 9-260 series. The voltage range of this unit is 115 to 230 volts at a frequency range of 50 to 60 hertz (Hz). The input power for the encoders is +5 volts, which it receives from the main power supply source. Additionally, the maximum input frequency of encoder feedback is 546 kilohertz (kHz). The appropriate voltage range of the encoder battery backup is 3.5 volts to 4.5 volts. The output PWM frequency is approximately 2.5 kHz. The PWM signal type of this digital servo module is RS-422 (A). The fundamental power specifications of this unit include the DC output voltage range of the module is +/-10 volts. Also, the DAC output voltage range is 2.44 millivolts. The DAC output sampling frequency range is 500 hertz. Additionally, it has a DAC output current rating that this model can draw is 5 milliamperes maximum and the DAC output load capacitance range is 0.01 microfarad maximum. This servo module also contains a central processing unit (CPU) and a board employed as a high-speed servo processor. In addition, it also shows that this model can be used to control machine commands. This device has red and green LEDs, or light emitting diodes, on the board that indicate the machine's status throughout operations to the operators. The same status information can be entered as an input into the unit.
