Allen Bradley's 20A-ENC-1 is an encoder board for PowerFlex 70 series AC drives. It supplies the encoder feedback signals for enhanced control of adjustable frequency AC drives. It has a power supply requirement of 5 volts to 12 volts with allowable �5% tolerance, the quadrature of 90� +/- 27�, the duty cycle of 50% +10%, and a maximum input frequency rating of 250 kHz. It contains channels that can be used as dual-channel, single-channel, single-ended, or differential and can supply 10 milliamperes current per channel.

20A-ENC-1 is an encoder interface board by Allen Bradley. It is only used in Allen Bradley's adjustable frequency alternating current (AC) drives from the PowerFlex 70 series. To achieve excellent control and performance features in these drives, this encoder terminal block is recommended for use. That provides encoder feedback to the drive to implement vector control featuring FORCE Technology, which is an enhanced control feature.

Part number 20A-ENC-1 is a dual-channel, incremental type encoder. It accepts an internal drive power of the following rating: 250 milliamperes of current capacity and 5 volts to 12 volts of the voltage range. This supply is isolated. This module can facilitate ±5% of tolerance in the supply voltage and current ratings. This encoder also has a jumper to select +5 volts or 12 volts DC square-wave.  In 5 volts mode, this encoder has a minimum of 3.5 volts DC (direct current) of high state voltage and a maximum of 1 volt DC of low state voltage. In 12 volts mode, the encoder has a minimum of 7.0 volts DC (direct current) of high state voltage and a maximum of 1 volt DC of low state voltage.  It accepts a maximum input frequency of 250 kilohertz.

This device has the following input channels: Encoder B (NOT), Encoder B, Encoder A (NOT), and Encoder A.  These input channel pairs can be used as single-channel or quadrature B input or quadrature A input. These inputs can also be used as a signal differential input. It has the ability to provide a minimum of 10 milliamperes of current per channel.
