Allen-Bradley manufactured the 42RLU-4000B photoelectric sensor. It is a heavy-duty model with a detecting range of 10.6 meters. It demonstrates an EM Relay (DPDT) output, and this kit operates between 102 and 132 volts AC and is capable of both DC and AC/DC operation. This sensing unit is part of the series 4000B, which has full-size self-contained sensors that are ideal for a variety of industrial applications. A variety of plug-in timing modules, including on/off delay, one-shot, delayed one-shot, motion detector, and counting module enhance this sensor's application-solving capacity. This photoelectric sensor can be used outside, even in direct sunlight, and its workplace conditions include NEMA 3, 4, 12, 13, and an IP66 classification. This sensor kit has a vibration range of 10 to 55 Hz, a 1 mm amplitude, a 30 G shock with a 1 ms pulse length, and a Noryl housing. Protect the sensor lens and reflector from excessive moisture by covering both devices with hoods. It operates between –40C and +57 degrees Celsius, or -40 to +135 degrees Fahrenheit. the relative humidity of the surrounding area should remain between 5% and 90%, as well as be non-condensing. The 42RLU-4000B is UL and CSA listed.

Without a bracket, this sensor may be installed using three 1/4--20NC mtg. holes or on a 3/4 threaded pipe with a thread pitch of 3/4--14NPSM. Allen-Bradley recommends against using lock washers with whiz-lock installation screws. Additionally, the maximum functioning distance is predicated on the sensor being installed in a generally clean area when the sensor is tested. Normal industrial conditions may vary from somewhat dusty to excessively unclean, and it may be necessary to increase the operating margin of the control, which can be accomplished by shortening the distance between the control and the operator.
