This module is constructed of Eutectic alloy. It also has a trip class of 20, sizes 00...0 with full load amps of 8.49 and Size 1 with full load amps of 8.45, and a service factor higher than or equivalent to 1.15.

The Allen-Bradley W50 thermal overload heater element is a W-series component used in eutectic overload relay settings. This type of W-heater component for overload type relay, which also includes class 20 coverage and a service factor more than or equivalent to 1.15, is appropriate with thermal types overload relays, magnetic functional motor starters, and motor controllers. When exposed to a current equal to 600% of its current rating, a category 20 relay will make tripping in 20 seconds or less. For its rugged construction, this W50 heater item is a great choice for a broad spectrum of applications and tasks. The thermal overload heating element has a rated current of 8.70 amps at full load. It is UL listed and CSA approved, and it includes standard overload relay safety as well. This type W series heated systems used in the 500 series provide the typical overload type relay safety required by Allen-Bradley for this series. The air temperatures for this item can reach as high as 40 degrees Celsius, and in most instances when the temperature is within this range, the motor and controller exhibit characteristics that are almost equal. In this particular instance, the overload relay is meant to monitor changes in air temp and protect the motor throughout a broad range of temperatures. Users must be acquainted with the setup and wiring instructions, as well as the needs of any relevant regulations and standards, before using this W50 thermal overload heating element.
