The SST-PB3-SLC module is designed as a communication module, and it is compatible with Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation's SLC 500 modules. This module connects to the PROFIBUS network. This device has an embedded 9-pin serial interface that allows input / output settings to be uploaded. In addition to that, the SST-PB3-SLC has a maximum input and output capacity of 2064 bytes, and it features one (1) communication channel. Moreover, the Woodhead SST-PB3-SLC communication module requires up to seven hundred and fifty (750) milliamperes (mA) of current at five (5) volts of direct current (DC) as power input. To avoid electrical harm to the device, operators must ensure to disconnect from power sources during installation and removal of this module. For locations with excessive electrical noise, the installation of an extra isolation transformer is advised to ensure appropriate functioning. The SST-PB3-SL has an inbuilt status LED that displays system status. When there is no network available, the COMM indicator turns green. However, errors in the network cause the LED to turn red. This module also has a watchdog timer. This capability allows the SST-PB3-SL to validate connectivity with the SLC processor and is activated after powering on or resetting the device. The timer is set to one (1) second by default. The scanner will display an error if there is no I/O update within the given period. The SST-PB3-SL module weighs approximately 430 grams, or the equivalent of 0.95 pounds. The operating temperature of this device ranges from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius, while the storage temperature should range from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.
