The 12/24 Volts DC 1 Ampere Positive logic ESCP output module provides 16 output pins in 2 groups. Both the groups, with 8 pins each, have a common power output terminal. The module has a characteristic of Positive Logic: it sources the current from the positive power or user common bus to the loads. The output devices are connected between the output terminals and the negative power bus. The output characteristics of the module are compatible with several different load devices including solenoids, indicators, and motor starters. For operating the field devices, power needs to be supplied by the user. For each output point, the individual LEDs show the on or off status. IC694MDL742 module doesn’t contain any fuse for protection. The red LED indicator in the module indicates Electronic Short Circuit Protection (ESCP) trips. The blue band on the label of the module shows that it is a low voltage module. It can be installed in any I/O slot of the RX3i system.
The module IC694MDL742 has two ESCP circuits. The first ESCP circuit can protect 1-8 output points while the other circuit protects 9 to 16 output points. IC694MDL742 monitors the common signal from both the groups electronically. If there is a short circuit, the module turns off the output points of its group and turns the red LED on. The output point LEDs don’t get turned off. The electronic Short Circuit Protection module doesn’t prevent individual outputs from increasing beyond their ratings, but it can protect the module during a short-circuited load. ESCP is reset by providing 12/24 Volts DC user power to the module.
