The GE Fanuc Emerson IC693NIU004 is an Ethernet network interface unit which allows a 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system to operate remotely on an Ethernet network. The IC693NIU004 can be employed as an EGD to exchange and interchange I/O and monitor data through the network. This unit contains a shield ground connection, eight (8) LED indicators to show the module status, and RJ-45 ports status, three-port connectors, and an Ethernet button to restart the unit. The IC693NIU004 MAC address can be found labeled on the module outside. The IC693NIU004 includes RS-232 and RJ-11 ports to link either terminal or terminal emulator to enter the station manager software on this module - to fix and troubleshoot Ethernet communications. The IC693NIU004 contains two (2) RJ-45 Ethernet ports, sensing and offering the data rate automatically either ten (10) or one hundred (100) megabits per second, either half or full-duplex and wiring arrangement.

The GE IC693NIU004 can be wired using direct, crossover, unshielded, or shielded cables. This ENIU offers a single IP address. The GE IC693NIU004 interface unit supports EGD and SRTP server protocols and its' Ethernet ports are 10/100baseT/TX ports. The IC693NIU004 has an RS-485 port on the power supply which supports both SNP and SNPX protocols. It includes both RAM and flash memory to store and save CPU firmware and user data and requires an electrical power of 7.4 Watts at a voltage rating of +5 Volts DC. The IC693NIU004 includes a battery back up to maintain the clock and store RAM data. This hardware operates at zero (0) to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) for industrial applications.
