GE Fanuc designed the IC200CPU001. It belongs to the Versamax line of CPUs for industrial use. The IC200CPU001 consists of two serial connections ports for communication. Furthermore, it also comes with nonvolatile flash memory. This memory is used for storing industrial programs. This module has an overall dimension of 66.8 millimeters x 128 millimeters. Battery-backed RAM is utilized for memory storage. The two serial ports of the IC200CPU001 module are the RS-232 and the RS-485. This industrial module can be programmed using software. It can be programmed for executing RTU slave, SNP, and serial I/O operations.

As needed, the port on the IC200CPU001 will acclimate. When the CPU is in Stop mode, both IC200CPU001 ports default to SNP slave mode automatically. Also, they will immediately return to SNP slave mode. Unlike other similar modules, both communication ports on it can communicate with the CPU. Also, the communication ports can establish communication with other various industrial serial devices. Power can be drawn from Port 2. This should only be used if the connected external devices require less than 100 milliamperes of power at 5 volts direct current (DC). The boot loader port 1 is utilized for changing the CPU firmware. An adapter can be directly configured with an attachment.

The screw locks on Ports 1 and 2 are threaded. When the IC200CPU001 is powered on, it creates a configuration that includes all of the system's devices. This process begins with slot 1. At the first vacant slot or faulty module, auto-configuration will stop.
