The Allen-Bradley 1305-BA04A adjustable frequency alternating current drive used to ensure speed and torque control of synchronous three-phase motors. To prevent component malfunction due to excessively high voltage, a line reactor or isolation type transformer is used to protect the device from damage. Additional surge suppression can also be used if the motor is used in harsh environments that are prone to sudden spikes in voltage. The drive is designed for noise immunity and is impervious to most externally generated interferences. The drive must be placed a considerable distance away from high voltage sources to prevent any residual interference from bypassing the immunity system of the device. Physical interference with ground connections and other power connections must also be avoided during installation.

The Allen-Bradley 1305-BA04A AC drive is highly productive and is capable of operating with a typical efficiency of 97.5 percent. The drive alters the frequency of input signals transmitted to the motor to achieve regulatory speed control for both low-speed and high-speed motors. The device is equipped with a human interface module consisting of a liquid crystal display that provides relevant feedback regarding the performance characteristics of the drive to the operator. The RFI emissions of the drive can be reduced by using an RFI filter. A solid ground connection must be available to nullify the ground leakage currents that are caused due to the RFI filter. A ground bus connected to an adjacent building can be used to improve the safety characteristics of the system and to prevent damage to the internal circuitry of the drive.
