The Allen Bradley 1398-HMI-001 is a touchpad module that is connected directly to 1398-DDM-005 Ultra 100 Series Digital Servo Drive. Very frequently there is a need for small changes or monitoring the motor drive in various areas in the field where would be very useful to have some portable device. That is the point where 1398-HMI-001 TouchPad comes in. It is small in size with its physical dimensions measuring only 2.25 inches x 2 inches x 1.09 inches and this device is connected directly on the front side of a drive. This is done by using the 9-pin sub-D connector on back so an operator can easily use its eight character dot matrix display, as well as the five (5) keys located on the display. The drive monitoring can be performed while the drive is running or while the drive is not activated and at the same time parameters can be changed and the resulting actions can be seen immediately. There are several versions of touchpad and its usage is not restricted to just one drive, it can support also the other Ultra series drives and it can be quickly attached and removed when power is removed. The normal operating temperature should be maintained within the range of thirty-two to one hundred and thirty-one (32 to 131) degrees Fahrenheit.
