Allen Bradley?s 20-COMM-M is a Modbus/TCP adapter for network communication. Designed for installation into an Allen Bradley PowerFlex 7 drive, this device can also be used with an external DPI communications kit. This network adapter is fitted with 4 LEDs for status indication, a 20-pin DPI connector, an Ethernet connector, and configurable Input/Output for desirable applications. This product has a minimum requested packet interval of 5 milliseconds. The operating temperature range of this unit is -10 to +50 degrees Celsius.

Part number 20-COMM-M was designed and manufactured by Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation as a network adapter. This device is fitted with non-volatile memory where it stores information and system parameters which can be viewed from the LED or LCD HIM device of the connected drive. Operated using the Modbus/TCP protocol, this adapter can operate at 10 Megabits per second full and half duplex data rates, as well as at 100 Megabits per second full and half duplex. Designed with a TCP connection limit of 20, this device has 16 concurrent CIP messaging connections, as well as 1 Modbus TCP input/output connection. This network device has a minimum requested packet interval of 5 milliseconds and a packet rate of 400 total Input/Output packets per second. Although 20-COMM-M was designed for installation onto PowerFlex’s internal communication slot, an externally mounted adapter can be used where the drive is already connected to a network. When in connection with the PowerFlex drive, it implements DPI protocol at data rates of 125 to 500 kilobits per second.

Allen Bradley’s 20-COMM-M has a 350-milliampere drive-connected consumption rate at 5 volts DC supplied by the drive or host. This Allen Bradley device can operate within a temperature range of -10 to +50 degrees Celsius, as wall as be stored within a temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity of the surrounding area should remain within a range of 5% to 95% and be non-condensing. Additionally, it is recommended that this device be installed in areas where the atmosphere is devoid of volatile or corrosive vapors, gas, or dust.
