Part number 22-SCM-232 is a serial converter module that belongs to the PowerFlex series of products. This module was designed and manufactured by the company known as Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation. It is compatible with Allen Bradley's PowerFlex 4 and PowerFlex 40 series of drive units and provides an interface to communicate with the computer or controller, as well as DSI to RS-232 conversion.  This component requires a 5VDC power supply with a current flow of 170 milliamperes to function properly. This module uses the RS-232 DF1 full-duplex protocol. The Allen Bradley 22-SCM-232 serial converter module includes a DSI connection with a conventional RJ45 connector and a cable that plugs into the connector (part number 22-RJ45CBL-C20). This module has LED status indicators that display when the module is in use, as well as when it is receiving and transferring data from the PC. When a serial cable (part number 1203-SFC) is inserted into the RS-232 serial port, it latches a low-profile connection.

This Allen Bradley module was designed to be operated in an environment where the temperature ranges from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius, or the equivalent range of 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. When storing this module, however, the temperature of the area surrounding it should range from -40 to +85 degrees Celsius, or the equivalent temperature range of -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The relative humidity of the surrounding area should have levels ranging from 5 percent to 95 percent, as well as being non-condensing. This module can withstand an operating shock rated up to 30 G at peak acceleration for an 11-millisecond pulse width. It can also withstand a non-operating shock rated up to 50 G at peak acceleration with an 11-millisecond pulse width.
