The Allen-Bradley 22F-V2P5N103 variable frequency drive is primarily used to regulate the speed of AC motors. This drive has a voltage output rating of 0-230VAC, three phases, a current output of 2.5 A, and a power output of 0.4 kW. (0.5 HP). This drive accepts a single-phase input 100-120VAC voltage supply. Typically, this machine, together with other drives, is referred to as an Adjustable Frequency Drive or simply an inverter. All of these terms relate to a drive that is primarily responsible for controlling the speed of an AC motor attached to it, either manually or automatically, through locally or remotely triggered operating orders.

This drive module has built-in communication capabilities that enable it to communicate through an RS485 network. This drive may be linked to a daisy-chain network through the RS485 electrical standard, allowing up to 31 drives to be connected and polled remotely.

Due to its compact size and zero stacking capability at temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius, this drive is an excellent option for applications with limited space constraints or on-machine deployments. Its panel-mountable or DIN rail-mountable enclosure is NEMA Type Open/IP20 certified for indoor and in-panel installation. It has a detachable MOV to protect the drive against voltage transients and input line instability, as well as a pre-charge relay, to check its inrush current. It can resist a 150 percent overload or even a 200 percent overload for 60 seconds. The 22F-V2P5N103 has five digital inputs, three of which are reserved for Start, Stop, and Reverse commands. Two of them are general-purpose inputs, which may be configured for jogging, preset frequencies, fault clearing, and local control, among other things. All of the digital inputs are 24 volts and maybe set as Source/Sink using a DIP switch. The 22F-V2P5N103 has two analog inputs for accepting speed commands in the form of 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 Volt signals from a local potentiometer or analog PLC O/P card. In addition to Digital/Analog I/O, the 22F-V2P5N103 may be networked, programmed, and controlled by an Integral RS485/DSI connection, enabling it to be attached to a PLC, PanelView HMI, or any other RS485/DSI compatible device.
