The Allen-Bradley 2711-K6C8 operator terminal is a state-of-the-art user-controlled terminal that can be used for a wide variety of applications. The configuration mode menu can be used to configure the terminal according to the system’s performance requirements. The user can also use the menu to reset the terminal to its default settings. The terminal has a non-volatile internal application flash memory of 240 kilobytes and can be used to temporarily store files and applications. A memory card can be used in addition to the flash memory to enhance the storage capabilities of the terminal. A memory card slot is provided with the terminal to mount and house the memory card. The 2711-K6C8 terminal uses a standard RS-232 port to establish and configure a DH+ network. The network ensures that the terminal can communicate with remote I/O devices and allows the user to control and monitor the functions of these devices. The terminal supports a 5-inch color display screen that displays active control lists and applications that can be used by the operator. The terminal is equipped with COMM status indicators which indicate active communication between the terminal and the system’s components using a flashing green light. A fault status indicator with a red light is used to identify critical issues with the terminal. The keypad can be used to enter alphanumeric characters, variables, and ASCII characters.
