The Allen-Bradley 2711-T6C5L1 is an operator terminal that utilizes an RS-232 port to establish or connect to a DH-485 network. The network offers the user the ability to actively monitor the status of the system's components and control their operation. The device has a non-volatile application flash memory of 240 kilobytes and can store files and applications created by the user. The touch screen is the most important and attractive feature of this terminal. The 128 touch cells are arranged across 16 columns and 8 rows and allow the user to actively interact with the touch objects on the screen. A high level of user involvement during creation of applications and monitoring of the system adds a degree of control and flexibility to the machine operation. The touch screen aligns screen objects with interactive touch cells when an application is created by the user. The 2711-T6C5L1 terminal belongs to the PanelView 600 series of terminals produced by Rockwell Automation. A COMM status indicator present on the terminal flashes a bright green light to indicate that communication is occurring through the device. The device is highly versatile and can comprehend instructions in five different languages. A language menu is presented to the user during configuration and a suitable language of choice can be selected. The terminal consists of a 5-inch color display screen and is housed in an enclosure to protect the terminal from damage. The device operates on a robust DH-485 network that can facilitate a connection between the terminal and remote I/O devices such as printers and scanners.
