The 2711P-T10C22A9P grants operators the ability to allow or restrict desktop access to the terminal. The desktop allows users to perform system and control panel operations, use file viewers, use a web browser, and use the media player. Operators can also choose to allow temporary access to the desktop, which can help in preventing any unauthorized changes. If the terminal has restricted desktop access, the only way to gain access to the desktop is by entering a password. The terminal comes with a built-in Ethernet driver. Users can change certain Ethernet information for the terminal such as the terminal’s IP address, the device name of the terminal that is shown on the network, and the username and password that is needed to access the network. Users can also enable or disable either of the two Ethernet ports to configure for DLR, star, or linear network topologies. A DLR, device-level ring, network is a single-fault tolerant ring network that is used to interconnect automation devices. A linear network topology is a collection of devices that are daisy-chained together across an EtherNet/IP network. This topology differs from a star network topology in that the devices can connect to a linear network and use an embedded switch instead of a separate one. Due to its dual Ethernet ports, this terminal can be attached in the middle or end of a linear network. A star network topology is a traditional EtherNet/IP network that has multiple devices that are connected via an external Ethernet switch.
