The MPF-B540K-MJ74BA comes equipped with a 24 VDC brake. The brake motor weight is 19 kg (41 lb). This adds a weight of 3 kg (6 lb) to the food grade motor. The max backlash (with the brake engaged) is 25 arc minutes, while the holding torque is 28.3 N-m (250 lb-in). It is required for an additional seal to be placed on the motor shaft near the motor’s front bearing if the shaft is exposed to fluids or to significant amounts of fine dust. This also includes lubricating oil from a gearbox. For the IP66 or IP67 ratings to be achieved, the motor requires the use of a shaft seal and environmentally sealed connectors/cables. A lower rating is sufficient in situations where the motor shaft is free of liquids or fine dust, and an additional seal is not recommended. When mounting the MPF-B540K-MJ74BA, users should tighten the stainless-steel fasteners within the recommended torque range of 45.2-56.5 N-m (400-500 lb-in). The MPF-B540K-MJ74BA has some of the highest load force ratings in the MP series. The radial load force rating for the motor, with a 20,000-hour bearing fatigue life, is 90 kg (198 lb). Grounding all equipment and making sure the power transformers are isolated are both effective means of reducing and eliminating the effects of EMI.
