The MPL-B980D-MJ72AA is a servo drive that’s serves to convert the electrical energy to mechanical motion. It is an MP series low inertia servo drive that was designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley. It employs the use of magnetics with a characteristic of being strong and permanent. The magnet stack length is 8 inches. The servo motor rotates with a maximum speed of 2000 revolutions per minute. It is considered to work under a 460 volts alternating current (AC) voltage. The servo motor is a brushless type of motor, therefore increasing its output efficiency. The maintenance cost and time of this device is reduced since mechanical and electrical noise is reduced. Overheating and sparks are kept under control and there is no crashing as compared to motors with brushes. To offer feedback of the distance and the speed of rotation, this servo motor consists of a multi-turn encoder whose resolution is greater than 10000 counts per revolution. The servo motor is mounted on a circular flange and has a frame size 9, which is equal to 300 millimeters (11.81 inches). Should there be a loose bolt or part within the motor, then it should be tightened as it can interfere with the servo motor’s longevity and reduce its production efficiency. The DIN connector is rotatable to right angle. The servo motor lacks a shaft seal. However, it is equipped with a shaft key which aids in offers protection by preventing dust particle or other flying objects that may cause damage to the inner part. It has no brakes as well.
