The Allen-Bradley 1747-DPS2 is a Configurable Port Splitter Unit that can be employed with PLC 5, MicroLogix, and SLC 500 devices. This device helps to divide a single RS-232/DF1 duplex communication port into two individual separated ports for two external devices. The 1747-DPS2 port can be configured for different communication protocols such as DH-485, DF1 full-duplex, or half-duplex protocols. This port splitter draws a current of 100 milliamperes at a voltage of 24 Volts DC. The device can be supplied with a voltage of 24 Volts DC. The unit is portable and small in size. This port splitter can be easily installed on a DIN rail. The 1747-DPS2 includes a programming and configurable port that employed a 9-Pin Male D-Shell Connector.
The 1747-DPS2 offers an autobaud speed data of either 19.2 kilobits per second or 38.4 kilobits per second. This port splitter provides an auto checksum for either the CRC or BCC mode. The device has faceplate LED indicators to indicate status updates. This module is sensitive to ESD. This port splitter supports a non-condensing relative humidity range from 5 percent to 95 percent. The device provides electrical isolation by employing optocouplers between communication ports. The port splitter contains a PROG/HMI port that can be employed with either HMI devices (VersaView, PanelView Plus, and PanelView terminals) or a programming station. The 1747-DPS2 operates at a temperature range of zero (0 degrees to 60 degrees Celsius (32 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and weighs approximately 168 grams (0.37 pounds) while shipping.
Equipped onto this configurable port splitter are four (4) status indicators. Each indicator is linked to a specific element of the product. These indicators are labeled as "OK," "Controller," "Network," and "Prog/HMI." When the "OK" indicator is flashing red or green, the port splitter is turning off and auto-configuring. When the "OK" indicator is solid red or green, the port splitter is on and working as intended. The "Controller" indicator is transmitting DF1 data when it is flashing red and is receiving DF1 data when it is flashing green. When the "Network" indicator is flashing red, this means that the network port is transmitting data while, when it is flashing green, it is receiving data. The "Prog/HMI" indicator flashes red when that port is transmitting DF1 data and flashes green when the Prog/HMI port is receiving DF1 data. The physical dimensions of this product are 101 mm x 35 mm x 70 mm (3.98 x 1.38 x 2.75 in.), making it small enough in size to be portable. There are also various network ports embedded into the Allen-Bradley 1747-DPS2. These network ports allow for a message initiation from the controller to be passed through. These network ports allow communication with DH-485, DF! full and half duplex, as well as DF1 radio modem networks. The communication parameters associated with this device and its network ports are configurable.
When storing the Allen-Bradley 1747-DPS2, it is important to remember that a storage temperature range of minus forty (-40) to plus eighty-five (+85) degrees Celsius must be maintained. This is the equivalent temperature range of minus forty (-40) to plus one hundred eighty-five (+185) degrees Fahrenheit. A relative humidity of five (5) to ninety-five (95) percent, noncondensing, must also be maintained when wanting to store this product.
