The Allen-Bradley memory module 1747-M13 is used in its SLC 500 processors. It is a 64 K flash Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EPROM) memory module and it is used for backup memory. Flash EPROMs benefit from programming versatility of EEPROMs as well as from highly secure nature of UVPROMs. It can be set to write-protected or unprotected based on the need and sensitivity of data. The memory module is mounted on a circuit board and enclosed in a plastic housing. It needs a 1747-M15 adapter socket to use commercial PROM programming to configure or erase the memory module. The memory module is inserted in the adapter socket and the socket then fits into the zero insertion force (ZIF) socket on a PROM burner.

The memory backup as well as programming is done using 1747-PSD.
The SLC 500 programmable controller can perform a wide variety of tasks including material handling, HVAC controls, high volume assembly operations, simple motion controls and SCADA. The memory module also provides flexibility in configurations and scaling ability. The SLC 500 controller can use indirect addressing functions, solve high-level math, and compute instructions.
