The Allen-Bradley ControlLogix 1756-L85E is a logic controller that primarily adds a degree of control to an industrial automation system. The device can be used to monitor the status of input devices in the control system and trigger their functions to add value and productivity to the process. The controller is chassis-based and must be mounted on a compatible chassis frame and connected to a suitable power supply. The logic controller supports 32 tasks which can be performed simultaneously to improve the efficiency of the control system and reduce idle time. Each task can support up to 1000 programs. The system architecture is highly versatile and supports several programming languages such as Relay Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, and Sequential Function Chart. These languages can be used by the operator to detail the functions that are to be carried out by the components controlled by the device.
