The Allen-Bradley 1762-RTC is a Real-Time clock module manufactured by Rockwell Automation and is a part of MicroLogix 1200 Programmable controller Series. The controller is generally shipped along with a memory module. This Real-Time clock module is used to provide information regarding the date and the time during the operation of the system and can be used for scheduling. The combination of this module along with the memory module also provides memory backup functions. The module is installed into the Micrologix 1200 programmable controller Series and can be easily inserted or removed at any point of time without any damage to either the module or controller. The controller requires data regarding the date and time during the initiation of the control system without which the controller would not be able to function effectively.
The module is designed to operate between 0 degrees Celsius and 55 degrees Celsius and the accuracy of the module depends on these operating temperatures. The 1762-RTC has an accuracy ranging from 34 to -70 seconds per month at 0 degrees Celsius. At 25 degrees Celsius, the 1762-RTC has an accuracy of 36 to -68 seconds per month.
