The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell 1764-LSP is included in the MicroLogix 1500 Controllers line. The MicroLogix 1500 series features programmable controllers whose parts are: processors, accessories and base units. The 1764-LSP is one of the two processors featured in the series. The 1764-LSP can exploit the RS-232 communication port present on the base unit, to properly enstablish communication with different kind of networks and protocols, such as DF1 Full-Duplex and Half-Suplex Slave, ASCII, Modbus RTU Slave and DH-485. In particular, Modbus RTU Slave allows to integrate the MicroLogix 1500 controller with existing SCADA exploiting the Modbus protocol and ASCII read/write features allw the user to handle modem control and communicate successfully with printers, weight scales and many other kind of devices. The system provides 7 kilobytes of user program capacity, with an area dedicated to retentive data that will be maintained even in case of power loss.

The Allen-Bradley 1764-LSP comes with a 7K user program capacity. The program capacity is divided into two (2) tasks. These tasks include storing user data, as well as running the user program. It comes with three-point-six-five (3.65) kilobytes (kb) for running user applications and almost four (4) kilobytes (kb) to store user data. However, depending on the requirements, users can configure this memory data. This controller unit stores the function files inside the processor memory. The function files are required for configuring data, and system resources. When it comes to command execution time, the Allen-Bradley 1764-LSP MicroLogix 1500 programmable controller can process 1K, or one thousand, word programs in about one (1) millisecond (ms). This applies to counter, bit, timer, and instructions. To execute math instructions, and embedded high-speed I/O, this controller unit can create long-integer data files. Floating data points can also be created, when necessary, each consisting of 256 IEEE-754 data elements. It features two (2) trim potentiometers, with each coming with an output range of zero (0) to two hundred and fifty (250) volts. The ¾ trim potentiometers enable the Allen-Bradley 1764-LSP to make quick adjustments of counters, set points, and timers. This controller unit is compatible with 1764-24AWA, 1764-24BWA, and 1764-28BXB. When it comes to memory modules, and real-time clocks, the Allen-Bradley 1764-LSP will work with almost all types of clocks, and memory modules, which include the 1764-MM3RTC, the 1764-RTC, the 1764-MM2, and the 1764-MM3. The 1764-LSP has a heat dissipation rating of one-point-five (1.5) watts (W).
