The Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1766-L32BWA is a sophisticated device that is used in machine control and monitoring applications to a considerable extent. The controller is equipped with robust hardware architecture and contains a power supply, input and output circuits, and communication ports to enable remote communication. Each controller supports 32 discrete I/O communication points, including 20 digital input ports and 12 discrete output ports. The controller can function in a highly efficient manner when it is powered by an input voltage ranging from 100 volts to 240 volts of alternating current. The total power consumption of the controller during operation is measured at 120 volt-amperes. With a relay output circuit and a digital input circuit, the controller forms an effective interface between the user and the components of the system and possesses the ability to translate the decisions made by the user into practical processes that are performed by the control system.

The Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1766-L32BWA operates on an input voltage with a frequency ranging from 47 Hertz to 63 Hertz. The controller uses a keypad as its primary input mechanism. The keypad can be used to enter alphanumeric characters, statistics, and variables into the logic controller. A liquid crystal display screen allows the user to study the performance characteristics of the logic controller. The logic controller is also equipped with a real-time memory clock. A memory module can also be installed as an accessory and can be used to log data and store programs. An RS-232 serial port is provided to enhance the communication capabilities of the controller.
