The Allen-Bradley 1769-CRL3 Right-to-Left Bus Expansion Cable extends the reach of 1769 bus communication lines for more flexibility. The 1769 system can, at most, use two cables at a time, and this allows for 3 I/O module banks to be used. Each bank, however, must have its own power supply. For setting up a system employing a MircoLogix 1500 controller, use only 1 expansion power supply, only 1 expansion cable, and at most, 8 I/O modules to support a maximum of 2 I/O module banks. This maximum number can be expanded to 3 banks by using an adapter such as the 1769-ADN Adapter. The 1769-CRL3 Expansion Cable has an operation temperature of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and a storage temperature of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Celsius). This cable also has an operating humidity range of 5% to 95% non-condensing and a maximum operating altitude of 2000 meters (6561 feet). The hazardous environment class for the 1769-CRL3 Expansion Cable is the Class I, Division 2, Hazardous Location, Groups A, B, C, D (UL 1604, C-UL under CSA C22.2 No. 213) class. This equipment must be used either in Group A, B, C, and D locations, or in a non-hazardous location. Be aware that if any components are substituted, the hazardous environment class rating may be diminished or compromised. For safety, ensure that the power is off before disconnecting or replacing any components or equipment and always service the 1769-CRL3 Expansion Cable in a non-hazardous area. Integrated circuits or semiconductors could be damaged by electrostatic discharge if the users touch the bus connector pins or the terminal block, so take care to follow proper safety guidelines when handling all 1769 series components.

This is the 1769-CRL3 Compact I/O cable made by Allen-Bradley. This cable is intended to be used by controllers in the DriveLogix 5730 series. This unit allows the 1769 bus communication lines to be extended. Up to two cables are supported for use in a 1769 system. This allows for three banks or groups of I/O modules. Each bank requires its own supply of power. The 1769-CRL3 is a right bank to left bank expansion cable. It is 3.28 feet (1 meter) in length and has an approximate shipping weight of 350 grams. The supported operating temperature of this component is between 0 degrees and 60 degrees Celsius. The supported storage temperature range is between -40 degrees and 85 degrees Celsius. The rated operating altitude is 6561 feet (2000 meters). The relative humidity range is between 5 percent and 95 percent noncondensing humidity. The cable is rated for an operational vibration of up to 5 G between a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hertz with amplitude up to 0.030 inches from peak to peak. The general relay operation is rated for 2 G. It can withstand 5 G when mounted on a DIN rail and 7.5 G when panel mounted. The operating shock rating is 20 G when mounted using a DIN rail and up to 30 G when panel mounted. The non-operating shock when mounted on a DIN rail is 30 G and up to 40 G when panel mounted. The manufacturer recommends that power be removed from components before cable connections are made or broken in order to prevent electrical arcing. This causes excessive wear for contacts and mating connectors.
