The Allen-Bradley 1769-HSC compact I/O high-speed open-style counter module encodes at 1 Megahertz with 4 onboard DC sourcing outputs operating between 5 and 30 Volts DC. The 1769-HSC module is made to manage high-speed operations. For example, its ability to measure speed, frequency, position, length, and duration allows the 1769-HSC module to regulate process flows. The 1769-HSC module can interface with either 4 single inputs or at most 2 quadrature incremental encoders at the same time for products such as photo-eyes, single-input encoders, or proximity sensors. For the 1769-HSC module, the on-state voltage of its 16 differential DC inputs flows from a minimum of 2.6 Volts DC to a maximum of 30 Volts DC. The off-stage voltage reaches a maximum of 1 Volt DC. The on-state current of the 1769-HSC module draws a minimum current of 6.8 milliamps, on-state, and it draws a maximum current of 1.5 milliamps, off-state. This module has a maximum input current of 15 milliamps. The normal impedance of the 1769-HSC module is 1950 Ohms. The 1769-HSC module has a minimum pulse width of 250 nanoseconds with a pulse separation of 131 nanoseconds as well as a maximum input frequency of 1 megahertz. The maximum on-state voltage for this module is user power -0.1 Volts DC. The maximum current rating is 1 Amp per point and 4 Amps per module. The maximum turn-on time for this module is 400 microseconds, and the maximum turn-off time is 200 microseconds. The 1769-HSC module bears a reverse polarity protection rating of 30 Volts DC. The 1769-HSC module should be used in environments that are clean and dry, rated up to Pollution Degree 2, and its circuits should never exceed maximum voltage or reach an overvoltage rating of Category II. Mount the 1769-HSC module only to sturdy surfaces like metal panels. Power supply banks, I/O modules, and adjacent controllers are all suitable for attaching the 1769-HSC module. The 1760-HSC must also maintain enough spacing for adequate ventilation and should not be placed too close to wireways, enclosure walls, or other devices. At least 50 millimeters or 2 inches of space should be provided on each side of the module. The 1759-HSC module’s mounting tabs are only necessary for non-conductive surfaces that cannot be grounded. When placing the 1769-HSC module, take into consideration that the connection shield performs better the closer it is to the ground. In addition, keep cables shorter to help reduce impedance. Lastly, be aware that if the 1769-HSC module’s field supply voltage decreases below a value of approximately 4 volts DC, each of the 1769-HSC module’s outputs will shut down until the supply voltage returns to operational range.

The Allen-Bradley 1769-HSC is a compact Input/Output module. This controller module is primarily used as an intermediate interface for signaling devices and high-frequency switching devices. This I/O module can be deployed for totalizer requirements, control positioning & monitoring, and counter applications. This compact module is compatible with PLC and PAC modules from the MicroLogix and CompactLogix series. This I/O module should be used with either 22 to 14 AWG copper wires or 22 to 16 AWG-stranded copper wires. No matter which type of wire the user decides to use, it must have a maximum operating temperature rating of 90 degrees Celsius.

The Allen-Bradley 1769-HSC features a power supply distance of 4. When installing or repairing this I/O module, users must remove the power connection. This I/O module comes with 2 quadrature (ABZ) differential inputs available. This controller module comes has an operational voltage range of 2.6 to 30 volts direct current. There are a total of 12 virtual outputs and 4 physical outputs on this I/O module. This controller requires a 5 to 30 volt DC power source. For the encoder and the counter, the supported frequency is 1 megahertz. This controller can function with an on-state maximum current rating of 4 amperes. Each of the current input points on this module support 1 ampere of current.

The heat dissipation rating on this I/O drive is 6.21 watts. It can absorb a power surge of 1200 volts alternating current (AC) for 2 seconds.
