The Allen-Bradley Compact 1769-IT6 module belongs to the series of 1769 Compact I/O modules that can be used as an expansion input/output with a Micrologix 1500 controller in an assembly with either a 1769-ADN DeviceNet adapter or a AENTR Ethernet adapter or with a CompactLogix controller. If the module is not connected to a MicroLogix 1500 base, its bank will need to include and provide its own power supply. The 1769-IT6 module includes a finger safe terminal block for the connections with sensors and actuators. When the module is locked to the others, the overall system becomes a rugged assembly. The Allen-Bradley Compact 1769-IT6 module is used as a temperature measurement module for thermocouples. The module provides 6 RTD inputs and 2 CJC (cold junction compensation) inputs. It supports the following types of thermocouples: B (300 degrees Celsius to 1820 degrees Celsius), E (- 270 degrees Celsius to 1000 degrees Celsius), J (- 210 degrees Celsius to 1200 degrees Celsius), K (- 270 degrees Celsius to 1370 degrees Celsius), R (0 to 1768 degrees Celsius), S (0 to 1768 degrees Celsius), T (- 270 to 400 degrees Celsius), N (- 210 to 1300 degrees Celsius), C (0 to 2315 degrees Celsius). The maximum heat dissipation for this product is 1.5 watts. This module allows 4 types of input resistance ranges: 0...150 ohms, 0... 500 ohms, 0... 1000 ohms or 0…3000 ohms. The dimensions of the product are 118 x 35 x 87 millimeters (4.65 x 1.38 x 3.43 inches). The approximated weight of the module is 276 grams (0.61 pounds).

The Allen-Bradley 1769-IT6 is a Thermocouple/millivolt Input Module. It is used for temperature measurement and its millivolt signals may be used for interfacing transducers. It is UL 508 listed, C-UL certified (under CSA C22.2 No. 142), and CE compliant for applicable directives. 6 channels are available for input in the 1769-IT6 module in addition to 2 CJC sensors. It can sense short-circuit, open circuit, under-range, over-range detection in all channels.

Selectable input filters 10 hertz, 50 hertz, 60 hertz, 250 hertz, 500 hertz, and 1-kilo hertz are also available to stabilize the output readings. The temperature ranges for each supported type are: -

for Type J, minimum 210 to maximum +1200° Celsius, for Type K, minimum -270 to maximum +1370° Celsius, for Type T, minimum -270 to maximum +400° Celsius, for type E, minimum -270 to maximum +1000° Celsius, for Type R, minimum 0 to maximum +1768° Celsius, for Type S, minimum 0 to maximum +1768° Celsius, for Type B, minimum +300 to maximum +1820° Celsius, for Type N, minimum 210 to maximum +1300° Celsius, for Thermocouples Type C, and minimum 0 to maximum +2315° Celsius.

The 1769-IT6 auto-calibrates upon startup and when a channel is enabled. It may also be programmed to auto-calibrate after every 5 minutes. An external power supply is not needed for this module. It is mounted in a single slot in the chassis and accepts 5 volts (Direct Current) and 24 volts (Direct Current) power from the communication bus, from which it draws a maximum current of 100 milliamperes at 5 volts (Direct Current), and 40 milliamperes at 24 volts (Direct Current).
