The 1785-L11B is a controller by Allen-Bradley. This unit is included in the PLC-5 programmable controller series. This unit controls local, extended, and remote I/O modules. The 1785-L11B has a backplane current requirement of 2.3 amperes at 5 volts. It has 1 integrated port for remote I/O using Data Highway Plus (DH+) enabling P2P communication between PLC-5 controllers, as well as remote programming and monitoring of the unit. The 1785-L11B uses an 8-pin mini-DIN connector for the DH+ terminal. The required transmission rate determines the maximum cable length for DH+. Speeds of up to 230.4 kilobits per second can be achieved with cables of length 762 meters. The transmission speed for cables 3048 meters in length is 57.6 kilobits per second. The 1785-L11B has a three-pin communication port usable as a remote I/O scanner or adapter and can be used for DH+. Scanner mode allows the controller to act as a supervisory controller for remote I/O adapter modules, as well as other controllers acting as adapters. The adapter mode allows the 1785-L11B to monitor and control local I/O and use a remote link to access the supervisory controller. The 1785-L11B also features an EIA RS232C port that is optically isolated. This port provides support for a number of protocols, including ASCII, DF1 full-duplex, half-duplex slave, and half-duplex master. This unit features user memory capable of storing up to 8000 words. A backup feature is available as an option, allowing EEPROM program backups with options available for memory modules in varying capacities.
