The 1785-MK is a nonvolatile EEPROM memory module. This device is primarily used for PLC-5 processors. This memory module was created by Allen-Bradley. This backup module has 8,000 words of nonvolatile memory. Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory, or EEPROM, is a form of memory that can not only be erased, but also reprogrammed, should the need arise. These memory cells contain MOS transistors. Between 100,000 and 1 million times, EEPROM modules can be removed and reprogrammed. The static-shielded bag contains the Allen-Bradley 1785-MK EEPROM nonvolatile module. Before handling this memory module, users must first release static energy. The module must be kept in a bag that is static-free. The jumper for writing data to the EEPROM comes configured in the module. The module cannot be written to if the jumper from the two pins is removed. If power is not removed from the I/O chassis before installing the Allen-Bradley 1785-MK EEPROM nonvolatile module, then memory, power, and/or even CPU problems may occur. Lift the I/O latch before pressing the EEPROM into the CPU until it is flush with the processor's bottom.
This Allen-Bradley device has multiple environmental factors that should be made aware of. The temperature range of this device for it to be suitable for operation ranges from zero (0) to sixty (60) degrees Celsius, or thirty-two (32) to one hundred and forty (140) degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature range suitable for this device to be stored away ranges from negative forty (-40) to positive eighty-five (+85) degrees Celsius, or converted, negative forty (-40) to positive one hundred and eighty-five (+185) degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, it is imperative that this device be stored in an area where the relative humidity without condensation ranges from five (5) to ninety-five (95) percent.
