Part number 150-A35NB-ND is a soft starter device that belongs to the SMC-2 series of smart motor controller products. It was designed and manufactured by Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation. The SMC-2 Controllers are multi-functional, versatile, and compact solid-state controllers that can be used in squirrel-cage induction motors with a starting standard three-phase supply. There are three (3) standard modes of operation that exists in a single controller. These include full voltage, soft start, and current limit start. There is another mode of operation called Optional Soft Stop, however, it works only when there is an interface module. The SMC-2 Controllers are available in 8 different sizes, which are based on their current ratings. These current ratings include 5 amperes, 9 amperes, 16 amperes, 24 amperes, 35 amperes, 54 amperes, 68 amperes, and 97 amperes. This controller has a rated voltage range of 200 to 230 volts, 380 to 460 volts, or 500 to 575 volts at a frequency rated at 50/60 hertz. This Allen Bradley controller has two (2) main configurations, which include a series controller or, if there is an interface, a motor controller.
The Allen Bradley 150-A35NB-ND smart motor controller was designed in such a way that it can operate with a single electromechanical motor starter within the same series. The added feature included in the series mode is that it removes the need to connect additional control wiring. Therefore, this feature helps simplify the initial installation.
