Part number 2198-CAPMOD-1300 is a capacitor module that belongs to the Kinetix 5500 series of products. This device was designed and manufactured by Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation. This Allen Bradley module provides a capacitance rating of 1360 microfarad for applications where the internal shunt module capacity is exceeded. This Allen Bradley device can either be used by itself or in conjunction with an external shunt module for applications that can produce an excess amount of regenerative power. The Allen Bradley 2198-CAPMOD-1300 is compatible with drives that share direct current (DC) power within a shared bus connection system.

When installing the Allen Bradley 2198-CAPMOD-1300 capacitor module should be placed on the right-hand side of the drive configuration. This capacitor module has physical dimensions that measure 265 millimeters x 55 millimeters x 210 millimeters, or 10.43 inches x 2.16 inches x 8.27 inches (height x width x depth). The Allen Bradley 2198-CAPMOD-1300 is compatible with all drive systems within the 200-volt class, as well as the 400-volt class. This module, as well as Bulletin 2198 drives, may be grounded by wiring them to a bonded cabinet ground bus via a braided ground strap. Another option would be to use a copper wire with a size of 4.0 mm², or the equivalent of 12 AWG, rather than the braided ground strap. This capacitor module has several connectors. These connectors include a module status (MS) connector, a DC bus (DC) connector, and a 24-volt control input power (CP) connector. This device is also equipped with a module status indicator.
