The 592-A2FA is a solid state plus overload relay whose primary function is to protect the motor and the circuit of the motor, as well as the electrical components, from overheating especially, as a result of overloading. This device works by monitoring the amount of current within the circuit. The device was produced by Allen Bradley and can comfortably be used with the motor control starters belonging to Bulletin 592 series of products. The current rating of this Allen Bradley device ranges from 3.7 amperes to 12 amperes. The device must undergo manual resetting. This solid state plus overload relay belongs to the trip Class 20. This means that when the current rises to a point where it is 6 times greater than the rating of the thermal current, the device will trip after a 20 second or less duration. The device also offers phase loss protection. The maximum voltage supplied to the device is six hundred (600) volts alternating current (AC).
The device is used with starters whose NEMA size is from 0 to 2. The maximum current that is continuous for the sizes 0, 1 and 2 is given as 18 amperes, 27 amperes, and 45 amperes, respectively. The power supply at 200 volts alternating current (AC) is three (3) horsepower for size 0, 7.5 horsepower for size 1, and ten (10) horsepower for size 2. For a voltage rated at 480/575 volts alternating current (AC), the maximum power supplied is 5 horsepower, 10 horsepower, and 25 horsepower.
