The 100-FSD250 is a surge suppressor that suppresses high voltage spikes when a coil within a contactor de-energizes. The 100-FSD250 has a voltage rating of 12 to 250 Volts DC. The suppressor has (2) two terminals that can be connected to the side of the contactor. The surge suppressor is a very compact device and does not require additional space to mount. The 100-FSD250 is a plug-in and coil mounted suppressor, and it has a rated current of 9 to 97 amperes. The 100-FSD250 is the diode module version that has a DC operating mechanism.
The suppressor has an open-type body enclosure and does not offer any protection against liquids, dust particles, etc. Mounting the suppressor is very simple as the user just has to plug the terminals into the contactor. It does not require any special accessories or tools to mount. A standard Phillips head screwdriver might be needed to tighten the screws, but that depends on the model type. The contacts on the suppressor are made using copper to avoid heat dissipation when a high amount of electrical impulse is released. Make sure to mount the surge suppressor when the contactor is not in use. Allow the coil to de-energize to make sure no accidents occur. The surge suppressor comes in a single pack form and with an instruction manual to help mount it. The diode module helps with keeping the direction of the current in the same direction and that is towards the suppressor instead of going back into the system and damaging it.
