The Allen-Bradley 1791ES-IB16 is an electronic module that belongs to CompactBlock Guard I/O DeviceNet Safety Module, that means that it can perform I/O operations to any DeviceNet point. Of course, that device or point should be prepared to be used for that purpose. Precisely, it has 16 current sinking safety inputs and also 16 current sourcing pulse test outputs. The device is working with a 24V DC voltage and gives up to 700 milliamperes on the output for testing purposes. The on-state minimum input voltage is 11V DC, and the minimum on-state input current is 3.3 milliamperes. The principle is very similar like the other safety devices. It sends request (protocol defined) and waits for response (at sinking source input port), so, in that way the broken line can be detected. Also there are many other combinations that can be simulated in order to get the right status and information. The module has status indicator LEDs. Using it, we can save a lot of time while configuring and testing the whole system. This Allen-Bradley product has a temperature range suitable for operation between negative twenty and positive sixty (-20 and +60) degrees Celsius, or negative four to one hundred and forty (-4 and 140) degrees Fahrenheit.
