The Allen Bradley N43 is a thermal overload heater element from the N Series of heater elements, and it is rated for 31 to 41 amperes. Thermal overload relays, motor controls, and magnetic motor starters can be used with the N43 heater element. Industrial standards (National Electric Manufacturers Association part 2-222) appoint a numbered class to overload relays based on the max time they take in seconds to trip while carrying around 600% of the current rating of the overload relay. The Allen-Bradley N43 heater element provides class 20 protection. Being a class 20 overload relay, the time it takes to trip at a current that is on 600 percent of its current rating is 20 seconds or less.

Motors that have no less than 1.15 as their market service factor as well as those with a temperature rise not exceeding 40 degrees Celsius are rated for continuous duty. Furthermore, for the same temperature at the controller & motor - select the “Heater Type No.” with the listed “Full Load Amperes.” closest to the complete load value displayed on the motor name-plate. Between 110 and 120 percent of the nominal full load currents will be protected in integrated horsepower motors. For a higher temperature of the controller from the motor - Select the "Heater Type No." with the greater number whenever the full load current figure stated on the motor plate is between the listed "Full Load Amperes." Between 115 and 125 percent of the plate, the full load current will be protected in integrated horsepower motors. If the full load current value stated on the motor plate is between the listed "Full Load Amperes.", pick the "Heater Type No." with the lower number for a cooler temperature at the controller than the motor. Between 105 and 115 percent of the plate full load current flow will be protected in integrated horsepower motors.
